Hello Market Friends Young and Old, Near and Far,
The solstice is almost here, and with it, the last market of the year. Thank you for reading our market newsletters, and more importantly, for supporting local organic food production all year long. We hope all will enjoy a sweet rest and happy times with dear ones in the days ahead, and take courage from the returning light.

There will be lots of extras on the tables this week for feasts and gifts. Be sure to get extra of your favourite market foods, as we will be closed on December 27th.

Heidrun sends news from the Dufferin Park Bakers that in honour of her German heritage, she is making fruit loaves this week. (We had a lengthy discussion about whether these should be called breads or cakes, and didn’t settle on which, but they will be full of dried fruits and nuts, and rich with flavour.)

Marvellous Edibles will have Ayse’s version of holiday classics baked on the farm, and there’s a rumour that Ali Harris‘s amazing Black Cake will be available, too. It’s a year in the making, and not to be missed.

DeFloured is bringing an impressive selection of gluten-free holiday treats, both sweet and savoury. If you need goodies after the market, they’ll be accepting orders until 4pm Friday.

Ruth from Monforte can recommend a nice assortment of cheese to put together for nibbling, and there are excellent preserves of many kinds from Forbes and Spade & Spoon to go alongside.

On special at the ChocoSol table are the Holiday Chests (6 bars for the price of 5), and a fresh batch of Jaguar Chocolates!

Bees Universe is back, with lots of beeswax candles (did you know they clean the air as they burn?), eggs, honey, and other bee products.

Kind Organics has Holiday Teas for a Limited Time only! All the usual sprouts and salad blends, too.

Colette Murphy will be at the market with flower, herb, and vegetable seeds, all  half price, and body care as well. This is  your last chance to get goodies from Urban Harvest at Dufferin until spring.

Kevin Hamilton (shown above with Nicole Jacobs) is coming from Shared Harvest with vegetables to tickle your imagination in addition to your palate. There may well be a trio in the garage, if Rodrigo from Plan B and Damon from Culture City get their instruments out. Hey, it ain’t Massey Hall, but you can have free front row seats!

Thank you for your support in 2018! We’ll be back January 3rd, and the days will be getting longer….
See you at the market!
Anne Freeman
