Delightful news

Hello Market Friends:
It was a thrilling moment when the note arrived from Jessie to say that the first Sosnicki Organic Produce harvest of strawberries is coming to Dufferin! As Jessie likes to say, these strawberries are “sprayed with absolutely nothing”. That doesn’t mean they are easy to grow; a tremendous amount of work and care goes into producing certified organic berries. Come at the start of market if you want some; quantities are limited yet.

Jennifer of All Sorts Acre was looking forward to returning this week, but has had to cancel due to illness. Next time she will begin bringing a diverse assortment of food and fibre from her flock, including sheep’s milk gelato.

Knuckle Down Farm will be coming with spinach and chard, and Aldergrove Farm will have sweet and tender kale, juicy radishes, perfect mixed greens (bring a bag!) and lots of arugula!

We’re still waiting for a glimpse of Kevin Hamilton (Shared Harvest) and Ted Thorpe, but rumour has it that it won’t be long now.

Waymac and Thor Farms will be absent.

The Dufferin Park Bakers’ bread list for the week:
Sourdoughs: rye, caraway-multigrain, potato-rosemary, cornmeal, olive-onion
Artisans: baguette, multigrain, potato-onion, spelt-walnut, cranberry walnut
Italians: rosemary, multigrain, whole wheat, raisin

The Art Hive, run by the Scratch Collective is back this week, as part of our calendar of Summer Events. They are offering cardboard looms; come by and try some weaving. The Art Hive is offered for all to use and enjoy – not just for kids! Come have a seat at the table and enjoy creating with community.

Speaking of community, you are invited to help our friends from Clay and Paper Theatre celebrate their 25th anniversary as the resident theatre company of Dufferin Grove! This Saturday from 2-5 pm, there will be a special birthday edition of Day of Delight, where else, but in the Park!
See you at the market!
