A Welcome Back and a Farewell

Hello Market Friends:
He’s BACK, and there will be olives! Not a week has gone by since Angelos Kapelaris left for Europe without olive and oil seekers asking about his return, and at last, the King of Country Meadows will be in his usual spot once again.

Once you have replenished your supply, don’t forget all our other great vendors!

Way up near Meaford, the elves at Marvellous Edibles are busy turning out a delicious assortment of treats to go along with their winter vegetables, poultry and greens. Jens has a whole unheated greenhouse full of spinach, so we will be well-supplied!

Vasile of Green Florin has Moldovan nuts, freshly cold-pressed Sunflower oil, dried fruits and more. Bring along jars to fill for your pantry.

Blythe of Spade & Spoon will have her tables piled high with sweet and savoury goodies to give or to keep.

Shared Harvest and ChocoSol are both coming this week and next to make sure you are well-stocked.

Ask Seth for a sample of one of Forbes Wild Foods’ lovely syrups for a delicate reminder of summer.

Be sure to stock up on everything you need from Urban Harvest; Colette will be at the market for the next two weeks and then away until April.

A big announcement:
As they move into their next decade of business, Kind Organics is making a shift: “We are so grateful to have had an outlet to sell our farm’s produce directly to appreciative customers. We are making changes in order to both streamline production and create a more sustainable business model.  This will entail closing down for a period of several months this winter.  We will be closing for Christmas break on December 24^th and not reopening until an undetermined time in 2020. We will be changing locations as we have sold the farm and have bought a new property a bit further south and west from our current place. We will be retrofitting the new place with some different growing methods and shrinking down production so that we are primarily focused on farmers’ markets and our personal work-life balance.” Sandra and Tamas

Sandra says there will be a “Thoughts and Memories” book to sign at the market. We look forward to welcoming Kind Organics back when their new farm is ready for production, and wish Tamas and Sandra every success.

In the meantime, our newest vendor, Cheyenne of Sundance Harvest, will switch from biweekly attendance to bringing greenhouse greens every week in the New Year.

Next week we will have another full house, including crafts made by our vendors and their helpers. Some highlights: jewelry made by Horace at Ali Harris’s table and by Gladys alongside Monforte Dairy cheeses, wool critters and creations made by Jennifer of All Sorts Acre.
