Starting a Fresh Decade

Hello Market Friends:
It’s about time for a market around here! Our farmers and vendors are getting ready to help you re-stock with healthy and delicious foods for the New Year. We particularly appreciate your winter support, so please make coming often one of your resolutions for 2020!

For the next while, quite a few of the regulars will be coming and going, but we’ll have a good balance overall, and some nice additions, too.

Damon from Culture City will be at the market, and he has a January special: miso $8/250ml, regularly $12!

Bob Felhazi called from Pine River Organic Farm to say that he has lots of tasty carrots with the tops on, as well as beets and other roots. Vasile (Green Florin) will be making weekly trips to the farm to bring Pine River veggies to market.

In another helpful partnership, you’ll find Ted Thorpe behind Plan B’s tables, with lots of local and imported organic fruits and vegetables.

Cheyenne Sundance will have beautiful baby bok choy (see the photo up top) and other harvests from way up in Downsview.

All Sorts Acres will be in attendance this week and then away for the next two markets, and Marvellous Edibles will be absent this week and next (while Jens is visiting family in Germany), so we have special visitors on January 16th: Patrick Galpin and Valencia Bedard of Heriter Farms will be joining us with certified organic beef and pork. Whether they come for more indoor season visits or wait until spring depends directly on demand. Meat-eaters, plan your shopping accordingly.

This is the week to get your favourite gluten-free baking from DeFloured! For the rest of the month, the bakery will be closed for a winter break.

Manny and Gladys will have their own tamale table through the indoor season.

Blythe and Adam from Spade & Spoon have decided that there is so much to complete on their new farm to get things fully up and running that it’s essential for them to focus on that full-time until late March or early April. We’ll be so happy to have them back and in production again when they are ready.

Let’s not forget the stalwart regulars who are looking forward to seeing you: Ali Harris, Bees Universe, Country Meadows, Forbes Wild Foods, Monforte Dairy, and of course the Dufferin Park Bakers will all be coming too!

See you at the first market of the year!
Anne
