*full vendor list here.
Yes, it’s true folks! There is a lot to smile about, at the Dufferin Grove Market. I saw many of you, doing just that, last market – and you looked amazing!
Sabrina, of Fisherfolk (in our feature photo), was clearly among those smiles too – well done Sabrina! 🙂 (And just a reminder that Fisherfolk is off this week, but return on July 18th.) First Fish will instead, be at this Thursday’s market. 🙌
Incredible gooseberries from Sundance Harvest, also brought lots of smiles to market shoppers.
Gorgeous sunflowers along with poppy pods, from Aldergrove Farm – a big hit last week!
Vendor News..
Hooray for the return of Planticia Foods! They haven’t been at the market since last winter, so I for one, will definitely be stocking up!
If you’re unfamiliar with Planticia’s incredible flavours (and quality), here’s a few words from business owner, Christine:
“Planticia Foods is a small, local producer of nutritious and delicious 100% plant-based foods. Try our unique plant-based charcuterie items (Walnut lentil pate, Carrot lox), naturally sweetened Sweet Bites, and our rustic Oat + Seed Bread (no flour – no yeast). This season we’ll also be featuring Oat + Seed Bread Mix kits so you can enjoy the fragrant earthy aromas of this seedy loaf baked fresh in your own kitchen. Made with organic Ontario-grown oats.” Yippee!! 🤸🏿‍♂️
Spade & Spoon also returns to the market this week. Business owner, Blythe, is only with us once per month this season, so don’t miss out! (Spade & Spoon returns on August 8th.)
Magnificent carrots from Nith Valley Organics – potatoes are soon to come from Nith as well!
Our bi-weekly returning vendors this week: TC Tibetan Momos, House of Tigernut, and First Fish. Scroll for the full vendor list, or click here.
A Heads Up to STOCK UP!
Yes folks, this is the week to stock up, with Forbes Wild Foods. They will be at this week’s market, but sadly Forbes is then away from July 18th, to August 1st! That’s three whole markets without them, (as Seth will be away.)
So perhaps now is the time to try one of Forbes’ incredible dried preserves, (if you haven’t yet.) The one on the left is Mugwort – and Seth describes it as being really good for helping with falling asleep. The dried bag on the right, (Labrador Tea), is great for helping with REM sleep. So either of these, paired with some of their amazing wildflower honey, and off you go! And if not, Forbes maple syrup is always a winner.
For July 18th..
Get ready for Repair Cafe!
They’ll be at next week’s market – (July 18th, 3-6pm.) So if you have things that need fixing, get them ready! And on top of Repair Cafe’s services being FREE of charge, here’s a few things to remember:
“Back to the park, our capacity is more limited and targeted. Just one item per person. We know we’ll have an on-site fixer for clothing (Julie), and small appliances-home electronics (Paul) – but aren’t aware of any other skill sets participating.” And of course, donations are always welcome. (For more info: info@repaircafetoronto.ca.)
Fresh fig leaves from Aldergrove Farm – use in teas, or in slow cook in soups or stews. Also a great source of vitamin A, B1 and B2.
July 25th – Save The Date!
Get ready to lighten (or bulk up) your closets – and take part in the art workshop if you like! The clothing swap takes place on July 25th, from 3:30-6:30pm. And as much as we’ve had great success with the “kids and babies” clothing swaps, this one is for the adults. But of course, feel free to bring the wee ones! đź’ś
Highlight From Last Week..
A big thank you, to our musicians last week. Guitarist, Lee Wallace (left), along with longtime saxophonist (and Dufferin Grove market performer), Richard Underhill, graced us with such incredible sounds at the market.
Keep smiling everyone, and thanks for the support..
-Nicole
*every Thursday, 3-7pm – in Dufferin Grove Park (at the north-end)
