Three Sisters Seed and Seedling Day

Slow Food Toronto

The good folks of Slow Food Toronto have gathered seeds of the “Three Sisters” (corn, beans and squash) from indigenous and organic sources, as well as heritage plants started by Urban Harvest and FoodShare. They will be offering these to gardeners interested in defending biodiversity, on a cost recovery basis. Indigenous grower Aric Aguonie of Earth Haven Farm will be on hand to tell the story of the Three Sisters. On September 6th, there will be a potluck supper so…

We Can Fix That!

Paul Magder, Fern Mosoff and others started the Toronto Repair Café in 2013 at Skills for Change on St Clair West, and it has become a roving city-wide success. They’ve helped hundreds of people repair items, promoting a culture of ‘if its broken, repair it’ rather than throwing it out, and have diverted hundreds of items from landfill. Bring along an item in need of fixing, and one of their volunteers will have a go at repairing it--free of charge!
