When Blythe Weber first applied to vend at the market, she realized that spots for produce growers were often hard to come by, and decided that making pickles and jams would be a way to put both her green thumb and her canning talents to good use. Her partner Adam soon joined the production team, and they began developing family recipes into an ever-expanding range of delicious preserves. It’s hard to believe that Spade & Spoon has been at Dufferin for nearly a decade year-round, but during that time we’ve had the pleasure of watching Blythe and Adam’s business and family grow. With the addition of two lovely ‘market babies’, Sebastian and Eloise, now they are four!

Blythe started out farming on her family’s land near Ayton, and commuted between the farm, home in Guelph, and Toronto markets.  2019 will be a very exciting year, as Blythe and Adam have purchased land in Northumberland County, where they plan to build a house, grow the organic crops that go into Spade & Spoon preserves, and develop a good-sized sugar bush for maple syrup production.

The success of this local organic business has been built at farmers’ markets, and we are cheering them on!
