Diatomaceous Earth is a non-toxic insecticide that works mechanically by dehydration. Safe for humans and animals but do wear a mask if applying with a duster. This is a geological deposit made up of the fossilized skeletons of marine and fresh water organisms, particularly diatoms and other algae. It scratches through the protective wax layers on insects, whereupon they absorb some of this material and lose moisture rapidly, dry up and die.
