Our Wild Rice is gathered from the lakes and streams of central Canada. A boat approaches these native grass, and they are convinced to part with their grains. Either from the surace of the lake or stright from the reeds it then taken back to shore to parch (dry) for a while. Finally it is danced in large drums to clear the husks away and what you are left with is a long, dark, shiny grain. Not a true rice it has more fibre and protien than brown rice and carries a delicious nutty/earthy flovor and strong chew. Great for stews, soups and to accompany wild game.
