Sweet September is here at last! Yes friends – hope you’re ready to celebrate the harvest with us. So much to enjoy. And if canning tomatoes and/or making sauces, is where you’d like to begin, then Kooner Farm has you covered! (As featured), Kooner will have tomato bushels at this week’s market! They’ll also be taking orders (while supplies last.) Contact Indy at: indy_kooner@hotmail.com

Carrots (and more), from Nith Valley Organics.

If you were wondering, the answer is yes. It’s still ok to enjoy popsicles after Labour Day – phew! Especially those from Jiggy Popz. As business owner, Karim describes them: Seazonal Special Fuzzy Peachzicles, contain 100% Freestone peaches. Try one out this week!

Food and music – such a great combo. Perhaps that’s why these beautiful peppers of Plan B Organics look as happy as they do. 💜

image 4

Nice to see that the “happy food” trend continues with Sundance Harvest – we love it Cheyenne

image 5

Apples are here! Lots of delicious varieties from Reyes Farms. Apple pie, anyone? 🙌

image 6

Shishito peppers from Aldergrove Farm. If you haven’t tried these, they’re incredible! Not too hot, like a jalapeño, but super flavourful- a great side dish. They can be eaten raw, but are most ideal if grilled or even added to a stir-fry.

Wildflower honey from Forbes Wild Foods.

Cayla’s Plum Cake Rocks! 🙌

I tried this cake a couple of weeks ago, when one of our incredible volunteers, Cayla, brought some for all the staff to enjoy. What a day that was! (I can still taste it! 😋)

So if you like plums, and want a dessert that has the perfect combination of tart, blended with sweet, then try making this simple plum cake. Golden plums are pictured here, but blue plums can be used as well, (which are in the recipe.) You can pick up some from Reyes Farms this week. And feel free to modify/reduce the sugar level, if you’d like it to be less sweet.

Also, if you haven’t met Cayla, feel free to stop by the market’s info booth and say hello. She’s full of incredible baking ideas! 💜

Note:

First, thank you for being a reader of this newsletter. 🙂 But for this issue, please accept apologies. You may will be some formatting issues/inconsistencies – and most unfortunately, some content and photos, had to be left out. There were numerous technical issues (with mailchimp), that just could not be resolved (in time.) The hope, is to send a modified and more complete version, in the next day or two. But for any questions, (in the meantime), please feel free to email me. (nicole@dufferingrovemarket.ca) Thanks again for your support of the market.

Coming Next Week – September 11th..

image

(I’ll put out a reminder), but next Thursday, September 11, 2025 is another clothing swap, (for “the little ones”.) And as per usual, a sing along with Nash also follows! This all takes place from 3:15 – 6:15pm.

Thank You, Papalote!

image 17

Our dedicated musicians last week (“Papalote”), still showed up and played music last week, despite the pouring rain. And by the time they got a couple sets underway, the rain had completely stopped, and some of you were even dancing! Music brings magic in so many ways.

See you at the market. 💜
