Yes please! Whether young or old(er), please think of our farmers, (and our local food system), when casting your vote this week. Nathan (of Nith Valley Organics), and his son David, (in our feature pic), will surely appreciate that.

Incredible root veggies, cabbage and more! (All from Nith Valley Organics.)
And what a month it’s been! Despite it being one of the “snowiest” Februaries we’ve had in a while, we’re also facing a (provincial) election. Yes, this Thursday’s “election day”, (February 27th), will actually coincide with our dear farmers’ market – the nerve! But not to worry – lots of time to do both. Stop by the market either before you vote, or after – we’ll be happy to have you.

Amanda (right), of Johnson Family Bakery, “caught” showcasing their incredible sourdough, to fellow vendor, Kalmplex.
And yes – perhaps all of that assumes a lot. If (formal) elections are not your thing, just showing up at the market, is still a vote for farmers. Thank you for that. And finally, if (like me), you hit the advanced polls, and already “took care of business”, fantastic! Either way, tell us all about it when you stop by the market this Thursday.
Ok, enough “election talk” – I agree! Just seemed like one of those, “elephant in the room” scenarios. You get it.

Seth (right), of Forbes Wild Foods, seen here, carefully discussing his wares to keen market customers. I’m pretty sure that maple syrup entered the conversation at some point – doesn’t it always?

Rodrigo, of Plan B Organics, seen here “concentrating” on his organic bounty – and holding on tight, it seems.
Vendor News..
Full vendor list here.
First off, a couple of “welcome backs” to announce – starting with ChocoSol! Yes, David and his delicious chocolate, will finally be back at the market! And yes – he’ll have hot (and iced) coffee as well – YUM!

The other vendor to welcome back is Dento Dream Foods! And yes, Dento promises he WILL be at the market this time. Last week he was scheduled to come, but was unfortunately “snow struck”. But he missed us dearly, and can’t wait to return!

And please know that Urban Harvest is back next week, (currently on a bi-weekly schedule.)

Nykole (right), of Noki Farms, seen here talking to market customers, while holding her oyster mushrooms – these are definitely my “go-to mushrooms”!

Incredible “salad shrimp” from Fisherfolk – also had these in a sandwich, many a-times! Throw in some capers from Forbes Wild Foods – yum!

David (of Link Haus), talking to customers about his gourmet sausages – grilled or frozen, (available every week.)
Black History Event..
The end of February, also means the end of Black History Month. However, thanks to Kalmplex (of “Kalmplex Snax”), I’m pleased to share some info on a Black History event, happening nearby. Kalmplex will be showcasing his art at this FREE event, happening this week – February 26-28, 2:30-8pm. And this Thursday, February 27th there’s also a musical showcase, from 6-9:30pm. All of this takes place at Worth Gallery, at 825 Dundas St West. Feel free to tell a friend or two.

Delicious spanakopitas & samosas from Magic Oven.
Thanks so much, and see you at the market.. xo
