Yes, indeed folks – weāre thrilled to be gearing up for āthe big dayā – May 22nd! So (including this week), there are just six Thursdays, until the market officially moves outdoors. Once again, thatās āon the grassā, and on the west-side, (of the clubhouse building.) Yippee!! (But please do keep supporting the indoor market, in the meantime.
)
(Colourful) duck eggs were available from Nith Valley Organics, last week – and just in time for Easter! And (not to worry), Nathan only used natural dye on them.
Also, did you get a chance to welcome Alexandra (of Nith Valley Organics) last Thursday? (Also pictured in our feature photo), last week was Alexandraās first time at the Dufferin Grove Market, (helping out Nathan.) And she was awesome! Feel free to say hello to her this week, if you havenāt yet gotten the chance.
Amazing, and nutrient-dense, sweet potatoes, from Plan B Organics.
And if you missed out last week, on that incredible swiss chard Alexandraās holding (in the photo), definitely grab some this week! Nith Valley Organics will have lots of spectacular fresh greens to choose from – chard, dandelion, bok choy, kale and more! As well as my personal favourite – parsley. And great news – (being that itās only April), that list will only get longer.

Chestnut mushrooms, from Noki Farms.
So once again, May 22nd, is the marketās official āoutdoor inauguralā this year – (3-7pm.) Be there to give all of our seasonal vendors a big āwelcome backā. And please feel free to help us spread the word!
And if youāre curious about our returning (seasonal) vendors, please stay tuned. For some, it will depend on the progress of the growing season itself. But Iāll definitely keep you posted!

Red beets from Nith Valley Organics – a great source of antioxidants.
Another (and more recent) day to countdown, is Earth Day
– Tuesday April 22, 2025. And for you āsuper-earthlingsā, once again, this yearās theme is āOur Power, Our Planet“. (According to Google), that means āencouraging everyone to unite behind renewable energy and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030.ā Awesome! If we each do a little bit, hopefully we can get there.
Vendors News..

The lovely Colette, of Urban Harvest, is back at this weekās market – hooray! Youāll definitely want to check in with her if youāre planning to āget gardeningā soon. And donāt forget, Colette has amazing skincare products, and essential oils as well.

Alma Bakery is also back this week. Flavourful hummus, baba ganoush, baklava, marinated olives and more! Rezaās got lots of great options for your holiday dinner this weekend – or for any occasion at all.

Incredible FRESH lamb ribs from Nith Valley Organics – wow! Holding them, (in the photo), are the hands of longtime market-supporter, Ravi. Ravi told me (last week), that he was going to make a special dinner for his daughter and a friend that night. Iām hoping to check in with him this week, to see how it went. Either way, Iām super-impressed!

Dried blackberry – yum! Perhaps this should be my next āflavour adventureā from “Kalmplex Snax“! If you havenāt tried one of these yet, nowās the time! Delicious dried fruit, with a hint of cayenne – and lots of flavour selections to choose from.

Some Sweet Treats..

Swedish Knots from Johnson Family Bakery – with three amazing flavours to choose from.

Wild Canada Plum Compote, from Forbes Wild Foods – super-tasty and wonderfully-local.

This preserve has only fouringredients: wild Canada plum, organic sugar, pectin, and citric acid. Let it add the perfect kick to your charcuterie board – or even, just spread on some toast, or mixed into your yogurt or oatmeal. Need more suggestions? The brilliant Seth is loaded with ideas! Be sure to check in with him.
Hot & Tasty!

Yummy falafel from Magic Oven – with a little tamarind sauce, or spice it up with some hot sauce. Either way, perfection!

Jerk chicken, from Estelleās Caribbean Cuisine – served with a side of rice and some salad. A definite crowd-pleaser, that many have planned their āThursday-nite dinnersā around.
Food & Art..
Fresh salmon from Fisherfolk – a quick and easy dinner option, loaded in omega-3 and healthy fats. With a side of veggies from one of our farmers, A+!

And kudos to the multi-talented Lillian! Our very own market Communications Coordinator, brilliantly ārose to the occasionā (at the market on April 3rd.) Upon learning that Sabrina of Fisherfolk, had forgotten her signage, (using the marketās whiteboard), Lillian ādrew upā this incredible menu board – in just a few minutes! Well done Lillian!
Tell Marc About It!

Yes folks – our resident poet Marc, wants to know āall about itā! Tell him what youāre feeling that day, or even just what excites you about the market right now. Basically, give him a specific topic, and heāll amaze you with a poem – in minutes! But please know that (currently), āMarcās Poetry Dispensaryā is just at the market until 5:30pm – and that PWYC donations are greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
See you Thursday folks, and happy long weekend.
–Nicole
