Marching Ahead With Joy!

Image

With a new month already upon us, and a new season just looming, there really is a lot to be joyful about. In addition to Noki Farms’ gorgeous mushroom varieties, spring planting is also fast approaching – which means peas, spinach, radishes, beets, carrots, dill (and much more), are all on the way! 🤸🏿‍♂️

Yes, I’m definitely getting ahead of myself, but with some of these mild temps we’ve been enjoying, how could I not?

Save The Date!

Yes folks, as we continue gearing up for spring, (and spring planting), you may want to mark March 16, 2024, in your calendars. This is when the “Toronto edition” of Seedy Saturday, takes place – (once again, at the Parkdale Public Library.) If you’re unfamiliar:

“Parkdale Seedy Saturday & Ecofair, is an amazing chance to learn about seeds, as well as to connect with seed savers. Folks are welcome to share, swap, and buy seeds – as well as to participate in family-friendly educational activities.” (March 16, 2024 – 11am-4pm, at 1303 Queen St W, Toronto, ON) Contact angelael@westnh.org or sandrale@westnh.org, for more information. Aren’t public libraries just the coolest? (Aside from farmers’ markets of course. Wink, wink. 🙂

At This Week’s Market..

Forbes Wild Foods will be back. Seth will have his full selection of maple syrup and maple products, in addition to dried mushrooms, and other wild foods. Hammerhead Fish will also return – Jennifer regrets having to miss last week’s market, due a last-minute conflict.

And great news from Rogers Ranch! if you’ve been wanting to “stock up on stock”, now’s the time. It normally sells for $12 per litre, but Dave is offering a promo on this: 2 for $20, or 4 for $36 – wow!

And if you’re looking for simple dinner options, the market’s got you covered! Magic Oven’s roasted cauliflower burritos, (pictured), are a great option. Or if you’re looking for something “meatier”, check out the steak & mushroom pot pie from Rogers Ranch.

If you like it spicy, a reminder that Estelle’s Caribbean Cuisine also has jerk chicken! This in addition to their incredible rotis and patties.

And finally, don’t forget about the tasty snack options, from Kalmplex Snax. Organic and delicious dried fruit, with just a hint of cayenne – yum!
