May is Our Month!

May is our month!

We’re so excited about the next few weeks! Along with the trees bursting into leaf, the market is going through a growth spurt. Many farmers and vendors are returning this week and in the ones that follow, and there will be a great array fresh and new things to eat. There’s almost too much to list:

News from Sosnicki Organic Produce: “Happy to be back for a great new season! We are having baby #3 this spring, so it’s going to be a busy one on the farm to say the least! We are working hard to bring on a great harvest of many different crops this season to Dufferin tho’! Fortunate to have great help so Jessie can tend more to the kids this summer.
Starting the year off right is fresh Field Kale! Yep, it over-wintered amazing and is growing like crazy! Also fresh from the dirt in our covered fields are those crazy awesome Ostergruss Radishes and gorgeous Salad Mix! We are also bringing our storage Carrots and Potatoes too! To see our farm in action head to instagram and search @SosnickiOrganic! Lots of pics of daily life here on the farm!” Ben, Jessie, Sadie, Nate and our helper Joe : )

Ernest-and-radishes

Ernest has been doing quality control and says it’s time for Knuckle Down Farm to come back to market.  We’re excited to be there with radishes, baby kale, and enough Spicy Salad Mix for all.  This year, Knuckle Down Farm is hoping to phase out the use of plastic bags, so we’ll be offering bulk greens to anyone who brings their own container.” Jenny and Peter

Jackson Kennedy and his brothers are back! They’ll be cooking up those legendary JK Fries near the bake oven.

Sas Long from Floralora planted thousands of bulbs last fall, and now her tulips are in gorgeous bloom. Hint, hint: Moms really like tulips!

Rafael from Tapioca Gourmet has been developing new menu items specially for Dufferin Grove, debuting this week.

Bring all your winter-dulled knives! Mike Fohr is coming with his sharpening tools.

Welcome back to Earth & City and their fresh and healthy vegan fare.

Akiwenzies Fish & More will have both fresh and smoked fish.

More plants will be ready each week now, from Urban Harvest and Country Meadows.

Shop early to catch Best Baa’s special of the week before it sells out!

Pine River will be absent as Helga is in the midst of moving. They hope to return next week, when Woolerdale Farm will also join in the launch of asparagus season.

Whew, what am I forgetting? I’m sure there’s more, but I guess you’ll have to come and find out!
See you at the market!
