What a Week!

Flowers lol

WHAT A WEEK! I hope you were able to make it out this past market as it was one of the nicest, busiest days we’ve had this year, and we want more of it !! Surely having the ever wonderful Sarah Brodbar Nemzer‘s children’s clothing swap brought even more kiddos and families, but let’s keep that energy up!!

However if you did happen to miss the clothing swap this past week, don’t you fret as there will be more through the season!! Make sure to keep updated with the newsletter as we will have that info closer to those dates 🙂

I know we plug the strawberries every week, but the best ones are only here for so long!! This is the last week for Reyes‘ UNBELIEVABLE June-Bearing strawberries, so make sure you clean them out as they do amazing in jams and preserves (or just fresh!). Following the strawberries will be both sweet and sour cherries to keep your eyes peeled for!

And speaking of delicious strawberries, here’s some amazing news for “popzicle” lovers!

Jiggy Popz will be introducing their new “Seazonal Special”… Local Strawberry Chia! We love strawberry season but it doesn’t last all summer so get ‘em while they’re cold ;).

This popzicle is made with fresh organic June berries from Reyes Farms, organic chia seeds and local organic maple syrup!”

And this week, Noki Farms returns to us with their beautiful selection of mushrooms – including those gorgeous Pink Oyster mushrooms. But they tend to go quickly – so come early if you can!! Last time when Noki was here, late shoppers, were met with this heartbreaking sign.

Lucky for us, Forbes‘ short hiatus is over and Seth will be back in action this Thursday. Come say hi to him and his beautiful sea asparagus greens, picked by certified foragers on the west coast!!

And we have some SUPER exciting news from one of our longest-standing volunteers. and an overall market legend, Sarah Bilous! Sarah is a brand new mom!! Here are some words from her:
“We have welcomed our son, Gabriel, into the world on Thursday June 8th! He is healthy, happy and beautiful. We are overjoyed. Each day feels like a little lifetime in itself.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and well wishes! We have had some family and friends visiting and so have been surrounded by much love, laughter, hugs and nourishing food. We are still taking it slow but hope to make it out to the market in the coming weeks!
See you soon,
Sarah, Thomas and sweet little Gabriel”

And this week, Toronto Public Library’s (Boor-Gladstone branch), visits the market! They are coming to promote their robots – so “robot lovers” should not miss out! haha
Word from the library:
“Join the Librarians from the Bloor-Gladstone Branch of the Toronto Public Library to learn about our upcoming programs, see our robots in action, and register for a library card and our TD Summer Reading Club!”

And lastly, this will be Urban Harvest’s last week until mid/late July – so last chance to get those seedlings!!

That’s all for me this week folks. Let’s have another rockin’ market.
