Rain, Shmain! We got this! ????

Is it just me, or has this summer been quite the rainy one so far? Maybe last year we just got lucky on the days it would fall. However, that did not stop our wonderful market from flourishing this past week – yahoo! 

And hey, if anyone’s looking for rainy day activities, how about making pesto? This beautiful, bountiful, basil from Kooner Farms, will surely fit the bill!

Feasting on Aldergrove’s juicy and delicious heirloom tomatoes could also qualify as a rainy day activity I suppose. However, I imagine they’re just as tasty on a sunny one too – so just be sure to get some!

And just a quick heads up for this coming week: Aside from the spectacular carrots (in the feature photo), Nith Valley will have FRESH CHICKEN! Yup, it’s true! Nathan made a point of asking us to pass that on – with pleasure Nathan! 🙂

Now as for last week’s rainy weather, clearly it didn’t keep our vendors from having cheerful smiles on their faces. Probably because so many of you still came out to support – thanks for that! I know Blythe, of Spade and Spoon, appreciated it. xo

Cheyenne (and crew), of Sundance Harvest, also kept in good spirits, while selling their delicious snap peas and sunflowers – “rain hats”’anyone?

And what a treat it was, having both Greenhouse Eatery and Nature’s Way back this week! I mean Audrey’s black garlic – yum!! And yes – those beautiful onions (pictured below), are hers as well. 🙂

And for anyone that was unable to make it this past week, you’ll have to come and try Nature’s Way’s HOT HONEY and spicy popcorn that recently won an award for its incredible mix of spice and delicious popcorn flavours! So if you like heat (in your food!), it’s a no-brainer! But if spice isn’t your thing, no worries! The greens that Holly and Ed brought were just fantastic! The “never-ending kale” they had last week, (as I’ve referred to it), barely fit in my crisper box!

And thankfully, the rain did not stop the lovely sound of “market music” – no way! Trooper, Jacob Lasby saved the day, and happily performed for us – (initially with no tent!) To quote Jacob: “It’s now Jacob: 1, Rain: 0!”. Let’s keep that trend going!

And our vendors that missed out last week, (Plan B Organics, Heartwood Cider, and Aunt Beth Bakes), all send their regrets. But they’ll be back this week, and can’t wait!
