First Indoor Market! What Fun! ????

A 1

Yes, our first indoor market (of 2023), was definitely good times. We started off a bit slow, but with great charm! And I know that more of you will come out this week – looking forward to it! ????

And just look at that delightful smile on Audrey’s face, of The Greenhouse Eatery. It’s no wonder either – her Jamaican pumpkins (pictured above), were a huge hit!

Nith Valley’s fantastic potatoes were also quite popular. And with so many to choose from! But if greens are what you’re after, Nathan’s arugula and spinach are just as spectacular. ????The fairly mild fall we’ve been having, has thankfully allowed for that. So get ’em while you can!

And great news for this week – WE’LL HAVE BREAD!! The “universe” finally heard my cries! Haha

But yes, it’s true – Johnson Family Bakery will be joining our indoor market, starting this Thursday!

Some of you may be familiar with Johnson, from other markets they do – including Evergreen Brickworks, Leslieville and Montgomery’s Inn, (to name a few.) So please be sure to give them a proper “Dufferin Grove welcome”! And here’s a word from Charles, the owner:

“We started Johnson Family Bakery in 2021 from our apartment kitchen. I was laid off from my career in retail, and fell in love with bread. We started with bicycle deliveries and patio pop-ups at my friend’s restaurant on Roncy. By the fall, we had moved into a commercial space in a restaurant basement on the Danforth and started selling at farmers markets, quickly gaining a strong following at Brickworks, Leslieville and a number of smaller markets. Now we have opened our own bakery and retail space on Queen Street East in the heart of Leslieville!”

(More) VENDOR NEWS..

Noki Farms (mushrooms and microgreens), Cutting Veg (garlic and greens), First Fish (wild caught arctic char and turbot), and Magic Oven, (Indian cuisine) – are all joining the market this week!

Forbes Wild Foods and ChocoSol were a last-minute addition last week, and should be here again this week – yay! (Scroll for the full vendor list.)

And The Band Played On!

What a treat for us last week, having such amazing musicians! Richard and Jim kept everyone entertained, and added a joyful, energetic vibe to the space. Thanks so much, you two! xo

And just as a reminder folks, of our (temporary) schedule. For this week and next, (November 16th and 23rd), the market will be at St Anne’s Church. That’s at 651 Dufferin St, (in the lower level) – also known as the “Parish Hall”. It’s a great space – so please come out and support these marvellous vendors!

After these two weeks, (from November 30th onward), it’s looking very hopeful, that we’ll be back at our clubhouse. Again, this is the indoor space at the north-end of Dufferin Grove Park. But I will give another update, next newsletter – dare I say, “get ready”? Well let’s hope!

Thanks as always, for reading folks – and hope to see you Thursday.

Last week’s “father/son dance-off” – just precious! Young Ania, on the shoulders of his dad Mauro (right), while little David, rested on Nathan’s shoulders, (left.) What a scene. ????
