At last.. PEACHES! ????

Support the Market

Late July is in some ways, very bittersweet. For one, it confirms that summer is already one third over! Sigh.. But then, peaches! I mean, they just amplify “the sweet”, don’t they? And in more ways than one! So if you need more summer sweetness, Reyes Farms has got you covered.

But hey, that wasn’t the only sweet thing at the market last week. Nathan of Nith Valley, delighted shoppers with his adorable son, David. And with this picture-perfect father-son duo at the helm, it’s no wonder that their delicious tomatoes quickly sold out! Please bring him again Nathan! 🙂

Need even more sweet? How about a delicious dessert crepe from CrepeDeLaCrepeTOIbraheem, joined our market this season, and has been getting a great response ever since. He thanks the Dufferin Grove community for the support. Yum! (Ibraheem returns to market on August 3rd, fyi. 🙂

And for those of you asking “what about savoury?” We’ve got that covered too at Dufferin. (Along with her bounty of veggies), visit Audrey of Greenhouse Eatery, for some of her delicious jerk chicken. Yes folks, the wait is finally over!

But if chicken’s not your thing, then I say “garlic, garlic, GARLIC”! Such a great addition to almost any savoury dish. Plan B Organics had a fantastic selection of it last week. Some of you may even have witnessed me making “garlic music”? If not, be sure to ask Rodrigo about it, this week! haha

scapes

So whether you prefer the classic dried bulbs, or gorgeous green garlic scapes, Rodrigo will have an ample supply for you.
And there’s also garlic scape pesto! A yummy product of garlic scapes – and so easy. (In a food processor), all you need are: scapes, olive oil, lemon juice, and sea salt. You can also mix in basil, (or not. 🙂 Then fold in seeds or nuts of choice, (if desired). Parmesan can also be added, or it can be kept vegan. Then spread a little on some of Robinson Bread sourdough – or just use it as a veggie dip. You’re welcome! 🙂

And of course, at Dufferin, we always like to thank our wonderful market musicians – just wouldn’t be the same without them! Last week, Andrea Kuzmich made a return to the market – looking and sounding fabulous. So great to have you back Andrea! ????
