Hello Market Friends:
Well, I guess Summer: the Sequel had to end. You wouldn’t think so from the technicolour postcard shot of our crew, taken just last Thursday, but looking like it’s from a magical land of eternal sunshine! (Below is a list so you can put names to all of those masked faces.)
November isn’t only about endings. We have new products and a new vendor to introduce: Nature’s Way, the farm of Ed Dirse and Holly King. Ed and Holly will be supplying us with certified organic popcorn, sunflower oil and chili spice. You can buy the popcorn in kernels or already popped. Top it with Sundance Harvest‘s new Herb Salts, and think Movie Night!
Choose hot with Marvellous Edibles peppers, or cool down with Earth & City‘s new Strawberry Coconut Yogurt!
Monforte Dairy is back with double the stock. If you are ordering hard cheeses, pieces may vary a little from the weights that are listed. This is handmade and hand-cut cheese, not a factory product, and we hope it will average out over time.
As the nights get chillier, consider a soft and cozy sheepskin from Buschbeck Farms. People with arthritis report that they are wonderful to sleep on, and the smaller ones are fantastic for babies. The natural lanolin in the fleece means that they don’t get soggy or smelly if there are minor leaks, and they are a soothing addition to strollers and cots–a home away from home for little sleepers. Buschbeck’s woolens and sheepskins are listed individually, so the photo you see is the item you will get.
Sosnicki Organics returns after a busy week of field work, and we’ll be enjoying the fruits (0r rather, vegetables) of all that labour.
It has sold out for this week, but All Sorts Acres will be bringing rainbow trout from their neighbours at Springhill Farms!
In light of recent announcements, we are reviewing our Covid protocols to ensure we continue to do all we can to provide you with a safe source of food. All of you have been terrific about wearing masks and practicing physical distancing at the depot. Please be prepared to sanitize your hands if you are repacking your order.
An Announcement from St. Anne’s Church: “Our next Just Recovery event will be held on Wednesday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m. and will focus on the Evolution of Mutual Aid. We’re going to have an amazing panel of speakers followed by an interactive community discussion about the future of mutual aid and encampment support in Davenport.
You can register for this free online event using EventBrite at this link.”
It’s about time we made our dates official. We will be open every Thursday until December 17th, our last pickup and delivery day of 2020, and we will be back in action on January 7th, 2021, continuing right through the winter with great local food. Please keep supporting your market and your local food producers; we can do this together.
With Love and Gratitude,
Anne
