Just Two Left – Oh My!

2

Yes folks, only two markets left, of the outdoor season. Then (as mentioned), we’ll move indoors to St Anne’s church, starting on November 17th. So once again, there will be no markets on November 3rd or 10th.

However, for the next two weeks, our dear market will still be at this fabulous park! And in case you need a reminder of just how beautiful Dufferin Grove is, feast your eyes!

Parkpark

And thank you Anne Freeman, for that lovely photo! xx

So for this week, I’ll try to keep my update fairly brief – you’re welcome! I’m sure you have much to do – wonderful food to make and such.

So Thursday’s market started off a bit “iffy” weather-wise, but then turned out to be quite lovely. These happy faces would surely concur.

Marman

Featured here are Georgia Marman and Alissa Hamilton, with Aldergrove’s glorious Napa cabbage in the centre – what a delightful conversation that must have been!

This little critter seemed to be having a pretty good time as well. She flashed me a tiny smile after finishing her lunch. Well that’s definitely what it seemed like to me! haha

Vendor news..

Forbes sends their regrets for missing last market, but should definitely be there this week. Seth hopes to have more of these beauties – Black Trumpet mushrooms, a hearty addition to any meal.

Muchy

Sosnicki Organics also send their regrets (for their absence), Jessie tells me that they needed to keep harvesting, and that garlic needed planting. They hope to be there next week, but will see how the farm work goes – fingers crossed.

As for returning vendors next week, Daughters Ciders will be coming – and with a brand new pear cider. Spade and Spoon also returns this week. So if you’re running low on jams, chutneys or sauerkrauts, now’s the time to stock up. And it’s still not too cold for popsicles! Fresh Pops returns this week with their sweet treats.

And lastly, some of you may recall, back in late August, when Anarres Natural Health and Apothecary was at the market – well they are also returning for one more visit.

Annares

As a reminder (from Anarres):

“Hi folks! Anarres is a social enterprise storefront and online resource founded 15 years ago. We focus on body care, bulk DIY supplies and environmentally friendly housewares. We’re committed to using ethical resources and supporting projects and initiatives that we believe in. Our goal is to help teach people about natural fair trade ingredients and how to use them and so we hold a variety of workshops in store from lotions to haircare to deodorant. Feel free to come visit us at 1076 Bloor St. W from 12-7pm Tues-Sat – or visit: anarreshealth.ca”

Callouts..

Just two quick ones folks – volunteers and musicians

Volunteers – if you’ve got a couple of hours on a Thursday afternoon, please reach out: info@dufferingrovemarket.ca – “volunteering”, as the subject. mainly with setting up and tearing down, please reach out to us. This would mainly be for shifts between 11am-3pm, or 5:30-8pm.

Musicians: this is for our indoor venue at St Anne’s church. We’re looking for musicians who can adapt to a more intimate setting than outdoor. If you can send a brief clip, or just drop me a line (also to info@), that would be great!

And just a few reminders..

This year marks our 20th year in operation! And no – I haven’t been there for all 20 of those years, but wow! And please join us for a little celebration at our final outdoor market (on October 27th.)

And remember that you can help keep the market going, by purchasing one of our commemorative bags – just $20. Already have “too many shopping bags”? Well they also make great gifts! Visit our info table to purchase one on market day, or send a message if you’re needing one shipped to you: info@dufferingrovemarket.ca.

Recipes to share? Please contribute to our community cookbook and send them to recipes@dufferingrovemarket.ca – with the subject, “recipes”.

Thanks so much folks, see you next week!

-Nicole
