Favourite Things: the January List

Favourite things: the january list

Hello Market Friends:
Skiing, or après-skiing? Speed skating, or rapid eye movement during long winter naps? Whatever your winter ‘go-tos’, I am guessing favourite foods are included, and here is a list of outstanding options for you!

ChocoSol is back, and they just made a big batch of their amazing Jaguar chocolate, so they will have nice bulk offerings of your favourite Jaguar selections!

Heidrun‘s Dufferin Grove Bakers offerings for the week:
Sourdoughs: rye, caraway-multigrain, potato-rosemary
Artisans: multigrain, baguette, cranberry-walnut, kamut
Italians: rosemary, multigrain, raisin
Challah and Rice bread

Patrick Galpin & Valencia Bedard

You’ll find Heriter Farms in the garage this week with certified organic beef and pork. Patrick and Valencia will be joining us full-time at the beginning of the outdoor season, but they are eager to get to know us, and may come part-time through the winter if there is enough enthusiasm for their products. Since we have no other meat vendors this week, it seems like the ideal time to meet them!
All meatBy way of introduction, they have specials on Bulk Ground Beef – Extra Lean $7.00/LB, and their famous Gluten Free Sausages, 6 flavours, for $10.00/Pack of 4, a savings of $2.00 each.

There was no masa ready for them last week, but Manny and Gladys plan to bring La Mexicana‘s tamales, hot sauces, and traditional corn-based beverages this time.

Laura McKinney is coming to visit with Pasta Pianta, fresh vegan pasta, which uses aquafaba instead of eggs. She is happy to report that she has more variety in pasta types now: spaghetti, fusilli, and rigatoni. As well, now she upcycles organic juice pulp from the Village Juicery to make kale, carrot, and beet pasta.

If cheese is not on your list, you’d better write a new one. Monforte will be at the market.

We’re looking forward to more of Pine River’s winter harvests (thanks to Vasile of Green Florin). Did you get a taste of those carrots last week? WOW!

Cheyenne from Sundance Harvest promises to have more greens for us so she doesn’t sell out in the blink of an eye! Don’t take one of those long naps and miss out, though.
See you at the market!
