Bountiful Harvests for the Last Path Market

Bountiful harvests for the last path market

Hello Market Friends:
There’s time for one more big, beautiful and bustling market on the summer path before we bid a very fond farewell to this setup and to several of our vendors who are finishing up for 2019. It has been a lovely path season. Warm thanks to all!

Join us in celebrating the farmers’ bountiful harvests. Here’s the news:

‘Well, it’s that time of year again when we have to say “See you next year!” as we wrap up vending at Dufferin Grove to concentrate on field harvests before our men leave by month’s end. It’s been a spectacular summer at the Grove and we have some of the world’s best customers I swear!! We are not finished yet: we intend on going out with a mega BANG with a pretty amazing harvest! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! We STILL have some Cucumbers and Zucchinis! Romanesco and White Cauliflower are coming! Leeks! Sweet Red Peppers: Sheps, Bells and Pimentos. Sweet Yellow Peppers. Hot Peppers. Carrots. Beets. Celery! Potatoes. Sweet Onions. Red Onions. Cooking Onions. Squash * yep – we grew a couple rows of squash by the melons this year 😉 Garlic. Red and Green Cabbages. Heirloom Tomatoes. Grape and Cherry Tomatoes. Still Roma tomatoes! And Kale. Always lots of Kale! And tho’ a bit wormy – Sweet Corn! (We’ll try and knock them out of the tips). Thanks again everyone for a fabulous season!’
Ben, Jess & crew!

As well as a great variety of home-grown produce, Jens from Marvellous Edibles is coming with fresh pork and beef. He will have plenty of sausages. There are still about 3 turkeys not spoken for, which can be ordered for pickup at Wychwood on Saturday.

Seth from Forbes Wild Foods has fresh local cranberries.

Ted Thorpe is coming with cherry tomatoes, kale, wild apples and pears, onions,  parsley, squash and peppers.

Heidrun‘s Dufferin Park Bakers list for this week:
Sourdoughs: rye, caraway-multigrain, potato-rosemary, olive-onion
Artisans: baguette, multigrain, cranberry-walnut, spelt-walnut
Italians: rosemary, multigrain, spice-bread, raisin, and
Challah

From Jason at Island Oysters: “Autumn oysters are more full, firm and flavourful from both coasts! Join us at our outdoor seated bistro for tales from the sea of six distinct varieties.”

Bountiful harvests for the last path market

This is the last week for fruit from Reye’s Farms.

It will also be the Earth & City’s final market of 2019.

Tara from Catalyst Community Herbals will be in attendance with traditional wildcrafted remedies.

Another monthly visitor: Angie from Lapapampa with irresistible dried organic mangoes.

Nick and Olivia are coming down from Huber’s Wildwood Farm with pastured pork.

You’ll find the market (still going strong!) up on the rinkpad next time. Please help to spread the word!

Wishing you a great long weekend, including delicious local food in good company.
See you at the market!
Anne Freeman
