Think Global, Party Local

Think global, party local

This week, I’ve seen photos of Shrove Tuesday pancake races in London, Valentine’s dinners in fancy restaurants, Carnival parades in Rio, Mardi Gras blowouts in New Orleans, and Olympic sports in Pyeongchang. Think global party local

Lunar New Year celebrations are beginning, too. How are we going to match all this? What can we say that will bring out the crowds, cheering wildly and dancing in the aisles?

The truth is, there are no marketing geniuses behind the market. We just really hope you will come and shop from the farmers and vendors every week so they can keep bringing good food to our modest quarters at Dufferin Grove. If you feel like wearing your favourite party clothes, cheering or dancing, that would be great, but it’s actually optional.

A few details for the week:

This will be All Sorts Acre ‘s last market until May. Jennifer is happy to report that they are almost out of things to sell! She has enough for one more trip in, and she will return with a full load in the spring.

Apologies for the tantalizing but erroneous mention of ChocoSol’s goodies last time, when it was their week away from Dufferin. They are coming this time!!

Everdale returns with a whole lotta local veggies! Here’s a note from Wolf Chrapko:  “Arugula, dry beans, red beets, gold beets, white beets, carrots, celeriac, mustard greens mix, yellow onions, parsnips, specialty radish, rutabaga, salsify, spinach, and turnips!
Ever wonder how those roots get washed this time of year? THIS IS HOW: Carrot washing

Spade & Spoon will be back, too.

Check the list of vendors below to plan your shopping, and then come and party  with us at the market!
